Publicist / Press Officer
Part-time or Freelance
We’re an independent children’s publisher seeking an exceptional individual to manage all aspects of promoting our books and company brand. This is a challenge requiring oodles of energy, passion and dedication, together with an equal mixture of creativity and organisation. For the right person, it’s a unique opportunity to help grow a new and exciting company.
Role description:
Generating publicity in all forms including but not limited to:
- Devising and implementing campaigns across all print and digital media (including social media such as Twitter)
- Devising an overall publicity strategy for our brand, books and other products
- Writing and distributing press releases and uploading all publicity related material onto our website
- Securing reviews and features in the national and local press
- Promoting our books to relevant trade and educational organisations
- Organising and managing author events, book launches and signings
- Aiding with sales presentations
Skills:
The successful applicant will have:
- Top-notch copywriting skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Pitching skills
- Previous press/publicity experience within the (trade) book publishing industry
- Experience in children’s publishing is highly desirable, as is an established contacts list
- Ability to manage a varied workload to tight deadlines is essential
- A good eye for detail
- Desire to work in a small but very busy team
